Root Cuttings

Has anyone tryed propagating figs by using root cuttings? I'm trying this using clear plastic cups, using a 50/50 mix of MG and perilite. The roots I'm testing may have been frozen this past winter, so nothing is growing. I understand this can be done. I found it very interesting. any help or feed back?.

It may be harder to propagate after the winter if it has started to use it's stored energy on new growth but figs are very easy to propagate.
