They were not able to recover.. the temps got over 100*F and I could not keep them hydrated enough.. This is last pic I took end of July.. ![]() Seedlings like warm, moist (not wet) environments.. I now have a pineapple pup. I have not tried doing seeds again yet.. (too many pans in the fire as it is) First thing I noticed is the pup (even though same size) has much stiffer leaves.. the leaves from the seedlings were not stiff and pokey like the pup.. I think the leaves were thinner.. I think that the leaves being thin made them more susceptible to environment.. I will post some good links for growing Pineapples.. Gina *BabyBlue*

Those were so cute. I'd never thought about growing pineapple from seed. I'm going to have to try it with the next seedy pineapple that I buy. Once it gets a few sets of leaves can you water it the same way as other bromiliads, from the top, or does the soil need to be soaked? Too bad those didn't make it. Thanks for the pics. Karyn

if you have grown pineapple from tops or pups the leaves are very stiff.. the leaves of these seedlings were considerably softer.. Maybe they would have stiffened up.. but I have a pup right now that is roughly the same size as the seedlings were and the leaves are very stiff and sharp pointy.. I will post a photo of my pup pineapple I have right now soon.. I watered the soil.. seemed like any time I watered the top it increased the chance of rot in the center.. though I read on one web site that once they get larger you can water from the top.. Maybe mine just never got old enough.. Gina *BabyBlue*

sure!! I was drooling over it in your pic page.. It is very COOL looking!! My kids were impressed I knew what it was.. impressed I knew what most of what you have..There were things I didn't have a clue and wished they were labeled.. but I am guilty of not labeling pics very well on my pic page too.. so I can't complain.. LOL I absolutely love the pics of your night blooming cereous (epi).. I have 3 cuttings from a local plant that I was told was about 125 yrs old.. it resides in local museum now.. I was told by the original owner 9 yrs ago.. she gave me 2 cuttings then.. I gave one away and the other met it's end when my youngest was playing basket ball in the house and the ball landed in the middle of the plant and destroyed it.. I was at the museum and the curator allowed me to have 4 cuttings.. I gave one to my mom and still have the other 3.. I can't wait till they bloom and fill the air with that sweet smell.. I have updated my pic pages.... there are pics of my Epi and other tropical plants there [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] Thank you sooo much for the offer!!!!! I would very much love to have a red pineapple!!! Gina *BabyBlue*
