I'm not sure what is meant by a pineapple top being cored. A pic would help me. I have grown many pineapple tops into pineapple trees. I usually grab the pineapple in one hand and the top in the other. I push in a manor that would simulate bending it in half at the juncture of the top and fruit. The top will pop off cleanly. Leaving no fruit pulp on the top. I plant the top or I have put it in water till it roots. Terry __________________

Terry I'm not sure about the coring, but I think its when the insides are removed. I have never tried placing the top in water for rooting but will do so on my next try. I also understand that the top can produce a pineapple, is this correct.

I have grown a pineapple from the planted top. Though they were small. I'm sure I had less then ideal conditions. You can use tooth picks to hold the top in place in a glass of water. The same way you would an Avocado seed. Terry __________________

Commercially when pineapples are harvested the tops are cut off and allowed to dry a couple of days and them planted. It take about 20 months to produce a pineapple. They will be be small but very attractive plants
