I just returned from Trinidad and Tobago. These two islands in the Caribbean are a tropical fruit haven. Here's the king of tropical fruit, the Mango. You can spot a Mango tree growing everywhere you turn in the Caribbean. ![]() Here's a fruit known as Pomecythere (Spondias Dulcis) in Trinidad. ![]() This is called Red Mombin, or Spanish Plum (Spondias Purpurrea) in bloom and fruit at the same time. The flowers and the fruit appear before the leaves. The leaves fall off in the dry season for about two months. ![]() Here's the fruit of the Spanish plum, still green. It will turn yellow or red. ![]() More to come....

Welcome back Bass. The mango is one of my all time favorite fruits. They are so deliciously sweet and tangy at the same time. When I lived in Hawaii we had a huge mango tree in the back of the house. I remember climbing the tree to get the fruits ( yeah, I was a kid at the time). I have never been to the Caribbean but it looks like a very tasty place to visit. Andi

Andi, I agree Mango is really good. Among all the Mango varieties I've had the number one variety is Julie mango. It's so delicious, lacking the acidy tastes. It's described by some as Coconut Mango sorbet in flavor. Here's the Julie mango at my wife's parents yard. ![]()
