Good evening. I live in a small apt in Lower S.W Michigan. I have a Bearss Lime that I purchased Last Fall. It was shipped from Ca. It is about 2 ft tall and is in a 3 gallon pot for now. Temps are still dropping down to 40 or so in the morning and my plant is still indoors most of the time. Last week I noticed a little oppurtunity to make my tree a little healthier. I say oppurtunity because I don't like problems. Last week I noticed some Shiney scale type film on the top of the leaves. It seems to be dripping from theleaf stems and branches that are above Also, there seems to be a type of mass growing on the small branches. Redish brown bumps with white puffy balls scattered. Some deformed leaves. You have to understand. I like an ocasionial shot of tequilla on special occasions. I gave up the Tequilla until I can have a Lime from my tree to chase it with. What should I do to rid my tree of this inconsiderate vermon.........

Mike M, I live in Northern part of the state. Been growing citrus an tropiticals for a number of years. an test new citrus each year. It's a great hobby for me as I like to learn and teach as many of our members like to do also. I got some fresh citrus from a Miho Satsuma this past winter they were so good. even my wife liked them. much better than store bought. This tree is loaded at this time with new friut. I grow in containers using CHC and peat, I'm about to use CHC an Coir for testing instead of peat. I also enjoy grafting and T-Budding as I'm still learming. This site is very down to earth and helpful I hope you enjoy it.

If there's not too many insects you could use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol. I would then follow with a spraying of water with a few drops of dish detergent to kill the "crawlers". Follow with a second spray in a week or so.
