Default Just Getting Started

I didn't grow mine from seed. I bought several small plants in a coffee mug at a local big box grocery store last spring. They spent last summer under the shade of a laurel tree after I discovered that in the full sun the leaves would burn and die. They are all really healthy now though and I have the plants, all of which are in a single pot, inside for the winter.

I'm having this same issue with my smaller coffee plant.. not sure the reason.
I don't think it is over watering. I am very strict with my watering.. I was thinking maybe I wasn't watering mine enough.. winter only some where between once a week and once every other week..
the larger of my two plants is not suffering the same problem.. I did have to move it out of my bedroom due to it getting toooo cold in there for the plant.. all the leaves are wilted.. I'm worried about it.. the soil is not dry.. but it has been rather cold in the room and it was next to a north wall with a window.. It looks sooo sad..
I'll post pics later..
maybe someone will let us know it the spots are natural or if something wrong that needs to be changed..
your plant looks a little pale.. is it inside plant??

Could the brown spots be from the Tap water? Too much Chlorine or Flouride or who knows what else is in our tap water.
I have a Kona Coffee plant that is probably 6 feet tall right now and producing all kinds of fruit/coffee. I am hoping to try and roast some soon, I read somewhere that you can do it on a BBQ grill and an old frying pan. I would love to get my hands on an old air popcorn popper, maybe oneday I will get over to the flea market here in Charleston.

angie valusek,
Your coffee plant appears (to me) to be suffering from either a phosphorus
or potassium deficiency. Both show as brown edges and spots on the leaves. I am more inclined to believe its phosphorus as the leaves are pretty yellow along with the brown edges and spots. I don't think tap water would pose a threat unless your water supply has very large amounts of chlorine and fluroide added. I use tap water to water mine and they don't show any adverse effects.

my limp leaves are ok now.. I watered with warm water and placed it in a warm location and it is very happy now all perked up.. Hopefully no real damage done..
School and work are closed tomorrow due to the baaad roads.. 9*F now.. not enough snow to insulate.. Mostly sleet and frozen rain.. looks like snow.. but you can walk on the top of it and not leave foot prints!! van hardly leaves a trail where the tires were!
hope everyone stays safe and warm!
