Here's a photo of my Salacca edulis - I've got one in a pot and one in the ground to see what happens - they're even too tropical for where I live, but well worth trying. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]

I saw your post on Garden Web, dated May, 06 looking for fruit or seed. I'm guessing that you found someone who would ship to Australia...or did you find your "Snake fruit" seed source in a store?

Found a bloke in Malaysia - I gave him all of the correct ways to pack and send stuff to get it through Australian customs - legally - and it worked. I'm getting some more exotic fruit seeds from him too - mangosteen, velvet apple, jentik and kindang maprang None of these are supposed to grow where I live - we are sub tropical and all of these trees and palms are definitely tropical. But that's the fun of it isn't it?

Mangosteen is my new quest. I've found a seed source and been able to germinate two (2). Initially, I bought small plants (twice) out of Puerto Rico but couldn't keep them going....even in the greenhouse. Maybe, growing them from seed will be the key. I think many growers/collectors keep raising the bar....to see if they can meet and beat their self-imposed new challenge.
