Inground citrus

Lets see if I did this right, I had mentioned that I have tried to grow 6 inground citus in Massachusetts. 2 of them are a kumquat and Satsuma. The attachment (if uploaded correctly) shows the kumquat with 20-30 unrippened fruits........... In the gallery I have a pic of the satsuma with the lone fruit. These are in the same enclosure. The low temp for this was 33 or so F.

Looks like the picture came out great. Good lookin' kumquat you have. I have not been brave enough to leave mine outside yet. The winds have torn the covers off just about everything lately. Keep up the good work cause whetever your doing is working.

Frank, how did your in-ground citrus do this winter? My Thomasville lost most of its leaves, but it is starting to resprout already.

All of mine are alive and fairly well. I am starting to pick kumquats and the satsuma is flowering. These two are planted on the south side of my house. The other 4 are alive, but experienced some winter leaf drop.

Interestingly enough I measured the soil temp for the south sides trees and it was 50 ish. The other trees are around 40f. A lot colder than I expected, given the heater cables.

Also all 6 trees are planted in a 8 inch well; the grafts are above soil. I did this to keep the ht low. However this keeps the soil from getting sun and warming up..... I am still learning
