Because I often grow Yuzu for rootstocks...and because the previous summer the plant cross pollinated and produced some strange offspring..this summer, when the Yuzu and other citrus were outside I watched them closely for blooms. When the Yuzu got near blossom break I carefully enclosed the blooms in light plastic mesh to prevent the bees from cross pollinating with other citrus. The previous fruits that produced weird offspring looked just like these...the oddities showed up when the seeds from the cross pollinated fruit germinated and their growth began. I believe these fruits will produce true Yuzu(s).

nice fruit!! My last seedling is trying to kick the bucket.. one that was put where I couldn't see how it is doing till almost too late.. the stem is still green so I've not given up on it yet. the odd balls didn't survive at all.. but their root growth was so strange.. Gina *BabyBlue*

Weird hybrids show up, Terry sent some Trifoliates that are healthy but tiny...very dwarf-like, the growth is almost in a rosette. Last edited by Citrus Joe : 12-19-2007 at 04:44 PM. Reason: add photo
