What was this critter? | | I found leaf miners on my kumquat, and knew how to treat them. But, there was a small catepillar/worm boring into the fruit! It would web between two fruits, and then just bore in, almost like a corn earworm. I couldn't find it in many web searches, but knew I had to treat it. I reasoned the same treatment, (oil spray), for leaf miners would work as well, but may lose fruit. Lo and behold, it worked! No more borers, (if that's what they were), and no more leaf miners. Plus, I retained all my fruit, (it's dropping from the winds here, I think), and have seen new blooms. Any thoughts as to what this thing was? It was minute in size, a light tannish brown, with a dark stripe down each side. There were two in each kumquat that was affected, and only a mere handful was, altogether. |
