Hello all! I am beginning to think about what neat things I can try, and I think I want to try to do some grafting. With that in mind, I was thinking about trying my hand at growing some rootstock from seed. I have heard that November is when many citrus begin to be available, and was wondering if anyone had some fruit or seeds from rootstock that they would be willing to share. I don't want to do anything wrong (forum rule-wise), so if anyone is willing to share or even recommend the type of rootstock that would be best for a very new citrus nut, please respond either here or in a PM. I am from Pennsylvania, so it would have to be legal for you to send to PA, which I don't know about. I would cover postage. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Barbara

Citrus Joe and Terry, Thank you both so much! I look forward to your packages with much enthusiasm. I will let you know when they arrive and how they are doing (probably better to say "how I am doing with them"). With great appreciation, Barbara

Citrus Joe, Your package came yesterday in the afternoon mail. Wow! Everyone faired well, and all looks good. Thank you again and I will do my best to prove worthy of your gift! Also, expect questions - I am in a bit of a hurry right now because the goblins are coming! Barbara

Glad the package and contents got there OK. I'm a bit dissapointed that it wasn't there on Monday. Normally, I can get plants about anywere, nation wide, in a couple of days using 2-day priority USPS.....just a few places including east Texas that takes longer. The 'wilt-pruf' will wear off in a couple of weeks....till then it should help reduce moisture loss and transplant shock. They're a bit small (now) for budding/grafting....I like them best when they're about the diameter of a lead pencil. Sounds like Terry sent 'goodies' too, that's great...he always has cool stuff! Good luck and keep us posted. Last edited by Citrus Joe : 10-31-2007 at 10:00 PM. Reason: typo

Citrus Joe, Well, I do live in and among the Amish, so things sometimes move a little slower around here.... I said I was going to have some questions, and although this is not the end of them, I have some ready to go. I will start a new thread in the appropriate forum so that this forum can stay on subject. I will also update everyone on their/my progress there. Thank you again! Barbara

Terry, Your package arrived this afternoon! Thank you so much! I must ask you, were all those seeds from one fruit? I counted 38, and they all arrived safety. One is cracked, but the embryo(s) look just fine so I will plant that one also. I was going to try sprouting them first in a baggie with a paper towel and store in a warm place. Once sprouted, plant them up in a “community” pot for a while until they get established. Is this a reasonable approach? Any suggestions would surely be appreciated. I started a thread in the container citrus forum earlier, and will let everyone know how they are doing there. Thank you Terry! Kind regards, Barbara
