Joe, Weirick "Sweet Lime" is Citrus limettioides Tanaka, much more commonly known as Palestine Sweet Lemon. The Palestine has usually been referred to as a sweet lemon, but it seems to be more nearly related to the limes in color, flower, fruit, and seed characters. You will have better luck asking, or purchasing, the plant by using the more common name of Palestine. Should be rather easy to locate.

It’s pretty common for citrus’ to have more than one “common” name, it may vary with the area where it’s grown. The Citrus Repository in Riverside lists Citrus limettioides (#PI 539284) as Weirick Sweet lime. Robert suggested that this was one that I might want to add to my collection. Normally, budwood of that cultivar is available but it wasn’t the last time I checked. The common name of Palenstine never was mentioned....and I didn’t take the time to research it out. I figured if I fished in enough places (3 forums) I’d get a hit. Your helpfulness sure reminds me of a fellow I used to know.

Weirick Sweet Lime (Palestine Sweet Lemon) the real value of this tree is mainly for use as a rootstock. Weirick Sweet Lime (aka Palestine) is listed in "The Citrus Dictionary" (version No.2) you can look it up.

I took the time to re-check the UC-R listings and found that they list Palestine (Indian)Sweet Lime (1482) and Weirick Sweet-Red lime (1684) seperately...I did order budwood and they are showing two different numbers...that's good enough for me! Joe Exactly. When you look up Indian Sweet Lime in the "World Citrus Dictionary (Version-2)" here is what the dictionary listing shows.

Indian Sweet Lime = Citrus limettioides Tanaka = Palestine

Weirick Sweet Lime = Citrus limettioides Tanaka = Palestine

Three names for the same tree, which is not at all uncommon. Some trees are known by four or five names. As I am sure you are fully aware, this is exactly why every genera is given an official Latin name.

Sure seems odd that the Citrus folks at UC-R would have mutiple listings for the same plant.....and list them (and their budwood) separately.
I'll go with them...they've been in the citrus business for many, many years and with 900 listings, I'd guess they know what they're talking about. Time for a waffle with Orchidandplantlady! :-)
