Joan,
I have noticed that they take up less water than they did in summer.. I've read that pot banana's can suffer rot from over watering in winter quicker than in summer.. Definitely check before watering!! Not sure it is possible to over water in summer!! Mine was watered almost daily during summer.. now inside it is less than once a week.. It continues to grow.. just a lot slower..

Your banana's growth will slow down because of the short days of winter. The typical dry atmosphere in modern homes dries out bananas and can cause brown leaf edges. Winter bananas do well in the bathroom, which is usually the most humid room in the house. Regular misting of the foliage (twice a day) and grow lights are recommended.

Thanks Newton.. I some times forget the humidity..
My plants are kept in a room that rarely goes below 40% humidity.. up to 80%.. The laundry room where I keep my banana, also gets humidity from the kitchen attached to the laundry room....
